Nurse Practitioners of Central Pennsylvania
Conference Scholarship Program
Purpose:
1. To enhance the knowledge base of members.
2. To financially assist members with registration fees for attending regional and national level conferences.
3. To promote the presence of Nurse Practitioners of Central Pennsylvania at regional and national conferences.
Procedure:
1. Categories: member scholarships-total of $1,800 in scholarships per year. ($450 every 3 months) plus 2 additional scholarships to attend the coalition conference.
2. Designated time frames-to promote attendance at conferences throughout the year, $450 of each scholarship will be designated for conferences occurring every three months throughout the year starting in January. Additionally, 2 scholarships (tuition only) to attend the PA Coalition conference will be awarded in November.
3. Applications will be reviewed and scholarships awarded by a Scholarship Committee consisting of a minimum of three persons, including at least one Board member.
4. Conference eligibility-preference will be given to regional and national level conferences by priority of clinical, administrative/legislative or educational/academic topics. Topics should be applicable to the member’s area of practice and/or certification.
5. Scholarship funds are expected to be applied to the registration or tuition fee of the conference. Applicants are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of the conference sessions.
6. Distribution of scholarship funds-the amount awarded per scholarship will be determined by the number of applicants for each scholarship period. If only one application is received and meets the selection criteria, or if only one applicant meets the selection criteria, the entire amount will be awarded to the applicant. If no applications are received or applicants do not meet the selection criteria, the funds will be rolled over to the next scholarship period.
7. Selection criteria:
- a. Percentage of NPCP meetings attended since joining the organization.
- b. Priority given to those members with no CME funding through their employment.
- c. A member may be awarded a maximum of one scholarship per every five calendar years.
8. Scholarship committee must fax a copy of the application review to the Treasurer and to the President.
9. Scholarship funds will be dispersed to the recipient after the conference. The scholarship recipient must provide copies of the receipt, registration from, and CEU certificate to the scholarship committee.
10. In such case in which all applicants are equally qualified during a specified period, the President of the NPCP will make the final decision.
